Running and Strength Coach, CSCSTurn Your Running Goals Into Actions!
Hi, I’m Courtney! Welcome to Travel iN Fitness, where my goal is to inspire, motivate and support you on your journey to running races, adventures and reaching your potential .
My Story
This is the part I find difficult because I’d rather be learning more about you. But I guess this is always the first step in getting to know each other so here we go…
I was born and bred in the South but now I reside in the Pacific Northwest. I began running as a kid with my Dad, then cross country and track in high school, followed by studying Exercise Science in college at Auburn University. After graduation I continued to learn more about coaching and training others and obtained my certifications. I became an Exercise Physiologist with the American College of Sports Science, then a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association. As I began working as a personal trainer I eventually realized that most runners lacked the strength resources usually provided to collegiate and elite athletes. This is one of the main reasons I coach runners not only with programming but also include strength as an essential part of training.
My own running background includes qualifying for the Boston Marathon, running a 50 mile ultra and continuing to remain healthy and achieve goals even as I age. I’ve finished multiple 5Ks, 10Ks, Half Marathons, Marathons and Ultras with a few Overall Wins, Overall Female Wins, Age Group Wins and I’m just glad to be finished kind of wins.
I’m also a wife and mother of two kiddos.
I look forward to getting to know more about you!
My Values & Beliefs
Honesty and Integrity
As simple as it sounds, it’s important that every person I work with knows that I don’t take shortcuts. There’s no magic pill or special formula to hard work and trusted research. I hold my clients up to the same standards that I give myself and this coach/runner relationship is built on a solid base of trust.
Accessability to all fitness levels
You don’t need to be fast to hire a coach. Even if you’re just starting out and need a little direction on how to reach your goals I’d love to work with you. There’s a lot of information on the web – good and bad. So it’s nice to have someone help steer you through the chaos. If you’re looking to PR at an event, reach a new distance or stay healthy while you keep running a part of your lifestyle, then I can help.
Giving back to our earth and community
The great thing about running is how it can affect others in a positive way around you. I participate in trail work to help keep the trails we all love to run on in tip top shape. I’m also an active member of a local non-profit running organization. I volunteer at races and also youth programs to encourage running as a healthy lifestyle sport.
My Approach
First, we get to know a little more about each other via a phone call. Be sure to schedule a time to chat here.
Next, we create a plan and choose a package that would work best for your goals.
Finally, we get started! Once I begin working on your training program you will be assigned a profile on the Final Surge App and you can track, comment and adjust your workouts as needed. You can also communicate through the app with me as needed. Depending on your goals you will be given strength training workouts as well as running workouts. There are no limits on how often your program can be altered.
